Jeremiah 31:3-5

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
I will build you up again,
and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt.
Again you will take up your timbrels
and go out to dance with the joyful.
Again you will plant vineyards
on the hills of Samaria;
the farmers will plant them
and enjoy their fruit.

    I notice that even when I am distant from God, and I can’t imagine His love, this passage says that His love is everlasting, and that some of the close and intimate experiences of worship and blessing will happen again. I can remember those worship and blessing experiences (my fast and my son, to name two huge ones!) I can take hope that in God’s love, even as I feel distant, that worship and blessing and interaction is coming again!
